Gayle Bryon - ELM Coordinator

Picture
My name is Gayle, and I am the newly appointed Encouraging Lay Ministries Coordinator for the Harrogate Deanery. What a joy and privilege to be given this amazing opportunity to serve God by encouraging those in lay ministry. I will be working across the Deanery, dedicating part of my time to the Rural Benefices, for a total of 14 hours each week during term time, with my office base located at St Andrew's, Starbeck.

In the months ahead I look forward to spending time listening to anyone involved in Lay Ministry and those exploring where they are being called to serve. I am excited to meet with you and to discover how your ministry can be supported, encouraged and developed. I would love to learn about your calling, your passion, what excites you, and the challenges of your lay ministry. It would be brilliant if you could share the great training courses you've been on, the areas where you'd like to learn more, and things you would love to share with others. I would be delighted to meet you individually for a cuppa or feel free to invite me along to a church service, activity or team meeting.

Following a period of listening and conversation, priority learning sessions will be planned. It will be wonderful to build connections, share resources, listen to each other’s stories, learn through questions and activities, and take time for reflection. It is hoped that local lay lead learning communities will be facilitated enabling everyone to feel fully supported in their lifelong learning journey in lay ministry.

The Encouraging Lay Ministries Coordinator role will be shaped by listening, conversation, and the needs shared by all those in Lay Ministry. I pray that working together, we can develop confidence and nurture an encouraging learning community where all lay ministries thrive. I look forward to meeting you soon.
